What would you highlight about Goen Lounge & Stay Sapporo

Great place

Nice staff, comfortable bedding, spacious capsules, modern building, cool lounge area with a neat library full of art books, great location and very affordable. Easy to recommend.

The showers have this automatic shutoff that means you need to keep pressing the lever down to get a steady stream of water. I assume it's to save water but it's kind of an annoying thing to do in the morning.

Definitely the place to stay in Sapporo

Located smack right in the middle of the city, at the Susukino district where Sapporo truly shines the best with lively locale, delicious food, Japan's signature lights, and my favorite: the more humane and bigger spaces for pedestrian, including the middle-of-the-road walking parks and Odori Park. The room is very BIG for a "capsule" hostel, the amenities are amazing, the lounge on top is lively with maps and recommendations, the bathrooms are super clean and spacious

Wish i could just take the stairs instead of the elevator every time, also the elevated capsules are not my favorite but thats just nitpicking

If you have time please try their ice-cream and cafe at 1st floor!

Location, facilities, cleanliness and staffs are amazing. I will definitely recommend to solo travelers as it is a great place to communicate with other travelers and locals, staff are also very helpful :)

The property, being fairly new, is one of two best hostels I’ve ever been in Japan, the last 2 months! So clean, spacious, lots of toilets/shower rooms, fabulous kitchen/dining room, great laundry room, huge bunk bed chamber with privacy curtain, n d most amazing thing about it is its fabulous staff - from Naoko/Keiko/Miri/Hideaki/Chiyoko/Teruki/n everyone else!!! They were very accommodating, friendly, spoke very good English, my tourist guides (Miri/Keiko/Chiyoko), always willing to help and with smiles, too. I so enjoyed my stay in the hostel and my adventures in Hokkaido were more special because of those amazing staff; they were like my family in Sapporo who took care and spoiled me!!! Thank you, everyone, for making my Hokkaido adventures very memorable!!! I will always cherish your friends, everyone!!! When I return to Sapporo, I will definitely stay at Goen Lounge & Stay again!!!

The elevator being outside; it has no security measure; anyone can go in and out even though each room needs a key card for access; someone could just easily be waiting by the door and tell someone she/he forgot her/his key inside. Although, Japan is very safe, it only takes one to ruin someone’s vacation and hostel’s reputation, which I hope doesn’t happen, as I really like the hostel and its staff a lot!!!

it's a really great hostel and my go to hostel in sapporo. much better than the last one i stayed at

beds are super spacious! there's a locker in your bed cube too! they provide towels. the beds are super comfy and sheets feel proper clean and fresh. theres free soap/shampoo and conditioner in shower. clean bath mat for each person. lovely staff. everything is so clean! excellent location in the centre and 15 min walk from sapporo train station or 4 min walk to local train station

the breakfast was alright but a bit more variety would have been nice like some croissants and jam or something. would be nice to be able to check in earlier than 4pm if the room is ready instead of having to wait.

The best part of this hostel was the staffs! They were super kind and friendly. They kindly told me their recommended restaurants and places to visit in Sapporo. That was very helpful!

None. (Everything was clean and neat. I am sure I will stay here again when I come to Sapporo next time!)

Chill and Modern, Amazing location, Great Value for Money

Atmosphere: Bright and modern design, kind of industrial minimalist. Very hip, young vibe, yet the atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. The dorms are accessed through an elevator, which is outside, separate from the front desk. It does feel like going up to my own apartment whenever I came back lol. Location: The hotel is sandwiched between two Family Marts, which is great for late-night hunger. One street over is a shopping street, where you can also access the subway and the street tram. The ramen alley is also nearby. It's about a 5-7min walk to Odori Park, where the Snow Festival was, and about 10-12min walk to Sapporo TV Tower (with luggage). For the price, this is a great location. Facilities: Everything is wonderfully clean. Showers are always spotless and easy to operate. Abundant towels for use, shampoo/conditioner/body wash always replenished to full. Shared kitchen and eating area always neat and tidy. The front desk is attached to a coffee shop, which I wasn't able to hang out in, but I did get a look and it looked very cozy. There's apparently a co-working space on the 2nd floor. Staff: The cleaners are fun and friendly. The front desk people are also super helpful. I needed a taxi to JR Sapporo Station and none of the Japanese taxi-hailing and ride-sharing apps were working for me. So the lady at the front desk phoned a taxi company to come and get me, and even told the driver where I was going. Thank you so much and I'm sorry I forgot to ask for your name. Overall: Would definitely stay here again when I come back to Sapporo. Coming back at the end of the day felt like coming home lol.

This wasn't a big bother, just thought I should note it down here - all showers are on the 5th floor. You need to take the elevator (there's only 1) to go up (I don't know where the stairs were, or if there were stairs for emergencies) So better if you bring an ecobag to put your change of clothes and toiletries in when going up. Dropping your sleep things on the floor that people walk on from outside is just... the germs. Also, bring your own slippers. Unlike other hotels/guesthouses in Japan, this one allows shoes into the sleeping area, so going barefoot means stepping on all the outside dirt brought in by shoes.

It was a nice stay there.

I stayed at the dormitory, but i got my own privacy which is i valued the most! The bed was big and spacious enough, with a safety locker for each bed. I wish they can provide room slipper for extra comfortness. And the breakfast, it will be better if they can give some butter too instead of only marmalade.

Please provide room slipper. Its not easy to go shower especially when you have only winter boot to move around.

I stayed at the dormitory, but i got my own privacy which is i valued the most! The bed was big and spacious enough, with a safety locker for each bed. I wish they can provide room slipper for extra comfortness. And the breakfast, it will be better if they can give some butter too instead of only marmalade.

it's a really great hostel and my go to hostel in sapporo. much better than the last one i stayed at
